You may be checking out my website to learn more about the curriculum I teach, or the kind of person I am, or you may be trying to get an idea of the kind of educational program we run at our school, and so you're getting a better look at each teacher's site to see if our school is one you would want to send your child to. Whatever your reasons, welcome! I am glad you are here.
If this is your first time exploring my site, feel free to look around. If you want to learn more about me and my teaching philosophy, go to the "Meet the Teacher" Page. If you want to learn about my classes feel free to check out the Student Portal, although the information there can be quite dense and in-depth.
However, if you want to get some of the big-picture ideas about what my classroom is all about, proceed down below.

A Spiritual Focus
As a Seventh-day Adventist teacher, I believe that God is at the center of everything, and all study is therefore a study of God's world, and God's plan. In the classroom we commune with God through prayer, and consider Him in the curriculum of each class. While we discuss and respect other views of the world, Jesus' love is the center of the worldview of my classroom.

A Full Curriculum
I am committed to providing a full and complex curriculum for my students in every classroom. The standards I base my classroom work on can be found below:
A more in-depth look at the curriculum for each class would be best served by having a look through the Student Portal.
Technology in the Classroom
I am dedicated to having a 21st Century ready classroom. Technology is not only an ever more important part of modern life, it is an amazing tool to improve learning, when used appropriately.
In my classroom, we have 1-to-1 touchscreen computers at every workstation, and we use them on a daily basis. We use a variety of websites and services, computer programs and video sites. Students are provided headphones for use in specific assignments or lessons, and are also sometimes granted to listen to approved music while the student works on an individual assignment.
One of the core programs I use for projects in multiple classes throughout the school year is MinecraftEdu, an educational version of the popular video game Minecraft. Using this program, students can create virtual worlds and people and interact with one another in curriculum-based projects.
One of my future plans involves developing a podcast with my students where we will formalize and edit our academic classroom discussion for public distribution. I also plan on partially flipping my classroom (you can watch a video I made explaining the flipped classroom to my students HERE) and as I have time to convert my classroom to a flipped classroom, it will become more so until it has been fully flipped.
Occasionally I will authorize the use of smartphones and tablets in class for specific purposes and times, but otherwise cell phone, tablet and other electronic use is determined by the official NSAA policy in the school handbook.

Care to support us?
The best way to support our work and mission is to send your kids to come learn with us, or to encourage your friends and family to do the same. However, if that isn't an option, or if you'd like to further support us, we do take donations to the school and classroom, and you can find my classroom wishlist in the link below. Thank you for your care and support!
